    TL;DR

    • A new OnePlus tablet has been spotted in an FCC listing, labeled as the OnePlus Pad 3R.
    • The listing doesn’t reveal much about the tablet’s hardware specs.
    • A new OnePlus Pencil was also filed alongside it, and both products could launch soon.

    For the past few weeks, rumors have been swirling about a new high-end OnePlus tablet. Most signs pointed to it being a follow-up to last year’s OnePlus Pad 2 — possibly a “Pad 2 Pro” with flagship-tier specs. But now, a fresh FCC filing suggests OnePlus might be heading in a different direction entirely.

    As first reported by Droid Life, a new OnePlus device has appeared in the FCC database under the model number OPD2408. The listing identifies it as a tablet and includes a label that clearly names it the “OnePlus Pad 3R.” Also appearing in the FCC database is a new stylus under model number OPN2405, officially named the “OnePlus Pencil.”

    The FCC documents mention support for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wireless power transfer (WPT) on the tablet, though it’s unclear whether that last bit means we’re getting actual wireless charging. That’s still a rare feature on tablets, so it’s best to stay skeptical for now. The device is described as working in both standalone and keyboard-laptop modes, and the hardware/software builds are listed as OPD2408_11 and OPD2408_15.0.0.61, respectively.

    That’s about all the FCC confirms on paper, but it’s what’s missing that makes things interesting. Prior leaks about this device hinted at a powerful tablet, possibly a rebadged version of the OPPO Pad 4 Pro, which was launched in China.

    That model features a 13.2-inch 3K+ display, Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, up to 16GB of RAM, and a massive 12,140mAh battery. OnePlus often mirrors OPPO’s hardware under a different name, so expectations were set for something similar, if not identical.

    So, where does the “Pad 3R” name come into play? That’s where things get a bit confusing. In the phone lineup, OnePlus typically reserves the “R” moniker for slightly trimmed-down, mid-range versions of its flagship devices, such as the OnePlus 13R compared to the full-fledged OnePlus 13.

    But if this is truly the tablet with all those rumored high-end specs, branding it as “3R” instead of “2 Pro” suggests OnePlus might be rethinking how it positions its tablets.

    Still, all we know for sure is that a new tablet, possibly called the OnePlus Pad 3R, is on the way. And with both the tablet and stylus now clearing the FCC, it might not be long before we see an official announcement.

    Large Language Models (LLMs) have transformed how we interact with AI, but using them typically requires sending your data to cloud services like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. For those concerned with privacy, working in environments with limited internet access, or simply wanting to avoid subscription costs, running LLMs locally is an attractive alternative.

    With tools like Ollama, you can run large language models directly on your own hardware, maintaining full control over your data.

    Getting Started

    To follow along with this tutorial, you’ll need a computer with the following specs:

    • At least 8GB of RAM (16GB or more recommended for larger models)
    • At least 10GB of free disk space
    • (optional, but recommended) A dedicated GPU
    • Windows, macOS, or Linux as your operating system

    The more powerful your hardware, the better your experience will be. A dedicated GPU with at least 12GB of VRAM will allow you to comfortably run most LLMs. If you have the budget, you might even want to consider a high-end GPU like a RTX 4090 or RTX 5090. Don’t fret if you can’t afford any of that though, Ollama will even run on a Raspberry Pi 4!

    What is Ollama?

    Ollama is an open-source, lightweight framework designed to run large language models on your local machine or server. It makes running complex AI models as simple as running a single command, without requiring deep technical knowledge of machine learning infrastructure.

    Here are some key features of Ollama:

    • Simple command-line interface for running models
    • RESTful API for integrating LLMs into your applications
    • Support for models like Llama, Mistral, and Gemma
    • Efficient memory management to run models on consumer hardware
    • Cross-platform support for Windows, macOS, and Linux

    Unlike cloud-based solutions like ChatGPT or Claude, Ollama doesn’t require an internet connection once you’ve downloaded the models. A big benefit of running LLMs locally is no usage quotas or API costs to worry about. This makes it perfect for developers wanting to experiment with LLMs, users concerned about privacy, or anyone wanting to integrate AI capabilities into offline applications.

    Downloading and Installing Ollama

    To get started with Ollama, you’ll need to download and install it on your system.

    First off, visit the official Ollama website at https://ollama.com/download and select your operating system. I’m using Windows, so I’ll be covering that. It’s very straightforward for all operating systems though, so no worries!

    Depending on your OS, you’ll either see a download button or an installation command. If you see the download button, click it to download the installer.

    Once you’ve downloaded Ollama, install it on your system. On Windows, this is done via an installer. Once it opens, click the Install button and Ollama will install automatically.

    Once installed, Ollama will start automatically and create a system tray icon.

    After installation, Ollama runs as a background service and listens on localhost:11434 by default. This is where the API will be accessible for other applications to connect to. You can check if the service is running correctly by opening http://localhost:11434 in your web browser. If you see a response, you’re good to go!

    Your First Chat

    Now that Ollama is installed, it’s time to download an LLM and start a conversation.

    Note: By default, Ollama models are stored on your C-drive on Windows and on your home directory on Linux and macOS. If you want to use a different directory, you can set the OLLAMA_DATA_PATH environment variable to point to the desired location. This is especially useful if you have limited disk space on your drive.
    To do this, use the command setx OLLAMA_DATA_PATH "path/to/your/directory" on Windows or export OLLAMA_DATA_PATH="path/to/your/directory" on Linux and macOS.

    To start a new conversation using Ollama, open a terminal or command prompt and run the following command:

    ollama run gemma3

    This start a new chat session with Gemma3, a powerful and efficient 4B parameter model. When you run this command for the first time, Ollama will download the model, which may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection. You’ll see a progress indicator as the model downloads Once it’s ready you’ll see >>> Send a message in the terminal:

    Try asking a simple question:

    >>> What is the capital of Belgium?

    The model will generate a response that hopefully answers your question. In my case, I got this response:

    The capital of Belgium is **Brussels**.

    You can continue the conversation by adding more questions or statements. To exit the chat, type /bye or press Ctrl+D.

    Congratulations! You’ve just had your first conversation with a locally running LLM.

    Where to Find More Models?

    While Gemma 3 might work well for you, there are many other models available out there. Some models are better for coding for example, while others are better for conversation.

    Official Ollama Models

    The first stop for Ollama models is the official Ollama library.

    The library contains a wide range of models, including chat models, coding models, and more. The models get updated almost daily, so make sure to check back often.
    To download and run any of these models you’re interested in, check the instructions on the model page.

    For example, you might want to try a distilled deepseek-r1 model. To open the model page, click on the model name in the library.

    You’ll now see the different sizes available for this model (1), along with the command to run it (2) and the used parameters (3).

    Depending on your system, you can choose a smaller or a smaller variant with the dropdown on the left. If you have 16GB or more VRAM and want to experiment with a larger model, you can choose the 14B variant. Selecting 14b in the dropdown will change the command next to it as well.

    Choose a size you want to try and copy the command to your clipboard. Next, paste it into a terminal or command prompt to download and run the model. I went with the 8b variant for this example, so I ran the following command:

    ollama run deepseek-r1:8b

    Just like with Gemma 3, you’ll see a progress indicator as the model downloads. Once it’s ready, you’ll see a >>> Send a message prompt in the terminal.

    To test if the model works as expected, ask a question and you should get a response. I asked the same question as before:

    The response I got was:

    The empty <think> tags in this case are there because deepseek-r1 is a reasoning model, and it didn’t need to do any reasoning to answer this particular question. Feel free to experiment with different models and questions to see what outcomes you get.

    • Tie CX metrics to company-wide KPIs to make them part of performance evaluations.

    There was a time not too long ago when everything looked successful from the outside — company growth, media features, funding rounds. But underneath the wins, I was living a lifestyle that was quietly sabotaging my edge. I had gained weight. I wasn’t going to the gym. I drank wine almost every night. I ate whatever was convenient, often skipping meals or grabbing ultra-processed takeout.

    My body was running on junk fuel, and so was my mind. It showed up in the form of burnout, decision fatigue and emotional volatility — especially when dealing with tough negotiations, naysayers and setbacks.

    Everything began to change when I flipped the script and made three lifestyle behaviors non-negotiable. Not suggestions. Not goals. Non-negotiables.

    These three changes didn’t just improve my health — they sharpened my focus, made me a better leader and gave me the endurance to scale through chaos. Every entrepreneur, no matter their industry, age or stage, should treat these three areas like core business infrastructure. Because if you break down, so does the company.

    1. Work out like it’s a board meeting

    Let’s be clear: Working out isn’t about looking good for Instagram. It’s about training your discipline, managing your stress and building stamina for mental warfare.

    Top entrepreneurs treat fitness as sacred. Jeff Bezos is known for his transformation post-Amazon CEO — trading in the skinny tech guy image for someone who clearly takes lifting seriously. Mark Wahlberg, an actor and entrepreneur, runs F45 gyms and often shares his grueling 4 a.m. workouts. Even Kevin Hart, who built an entertainment empire, ties his fitness routine directly to his mental sharpness and business resilience.

    For me, getting back into daily workouts was humbling at first. The strength wasn’t there, and the discipline had eroded. But within weeks of consistency — whether it was lifting, walking or high-intensity intervals — my clarity returned. I was sleeping better. My moods leveled out. I could deal with stressors head-on without needing a glass of cabernet to decompress.

    Science backs this up. A Harvard Medical School study found that regular aerobic exercise improves executive function, which includes decision-making, problem-solving and focus — exactly what we’re paid to be good at.

    Entrepreneurship is a sport. Start treating your body like an athlete does.

    2. Eat like your decisions depend on it — because they do

    The old saying goes, “If you don’t make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness.” And that’s exactly where most entrepreneurs go wrong.

    The culture glorifies 18-hour workdays and fast food lunches as signs of hustle. But that mentality is broken. The truth? Your body is a processing machine, and what you put into it becomes your fuel for thinking, speaking and leading. If you feed it poorly, it breaks down. Fast.

    I changed my diet by adopting a flexitarian approach — leaning mostly on vegetables, grains, legumes, fish and occasionally red meat. I didn’t go extreme. I went intentional. That shift alone gave me more energy in the afternoons, less brain fog and zero crashes from sugar or processed carbs. I started reading labels. I stopped pretending “protein bars” were meals. I drank more water and fewer glasses of wine.

    Look at Tom Brady — still peak-performing into his 40s because of a clean, disciplined diet. Or Tim Ferriss, who famously follows strict dietary regimens to optimize performance. Even companies like Sweetgreen, Sakara Life and Athletic Greens have built empires catering to high-performers who don’t want to compromise clarity or energy for convenience.

    There’s nothing glamorous about burnout-induced hospital visits or running your team from a place of low energy. Entrepreneurs must start thinking of food as strategic fuel.

    3. Sleep like a pro, not a martyr

    One of the dumbest myths in the business world is the glorification of sleep deprivation. You hear it all the time: “I only sleep four hours.” “Sleep is for losers.” “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.”

    Neuroscience is unequivocal: Seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night is essential for memory consolidation, emotional regulation and cognitive performance. The CDC has declared sleep deprivation a public health epidemic, and for entrepreneurs, it’s even more dangerous.

    Research has revealed that during sleep, your brain flushes out toxins that build up during the day. Without adequate sleep, those toxins accumulate and impair function.

    Elon Musk famously tweeted about working 120-hour weeks and later admitted it nearly “cost him his mind.” Since then, even he has pulled back and begun advocating for better sleep. Arianna Huffington built an entire movement around sleep culture after collapsing from exhaustion and hitting her head on her desk.

    I learned to treat my sleep like my calendar — scheduled, protected and predictable. No screens late at night. No late-night wine. Same bedtime every day, including weekends. The result? Fewer irrational decisions, less emotional reactivity and more strategic thinking in the morning.

    Good sleep is a competitive advantage. Use it.

    With more than 25 years of experience in the technology industry, Kandukuri has a successful history of building and leading engineering teams that support aggressive business goals. Kandukuri brings significant expertise in modernizing technology infrastructure and approaching engineering with a customer-first mindset.

While there, he transformed product development, quality engineering, and cloud operations while driving AI/ML adoption.
